  2. Get Handful rice or cracked wheat (bulgur)
  3. Prepare 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  4. Get Olive oil
  5. Take Salt
  6. Prepare 1/2 teaspoon cumin

Aside from cooking the lentils and rice, the onions is what takes the most time. There's a lot of chopping involved and a lot of frying time. Mujadara is a Middle Eastern lentils and rice recipe made w caramelized onions. You only need three ingredients to make this.

Steps to make Moujaddara (cooked lentils)

Tasty 3-ingredient lunch:

  1. Rinse and start boiling the lentils in 6 cups of water and leave it for 15 minutes on medium to high heat
  2. Chop the onion and fry it in olive oil until it’s transparent and golden
  3. After 15 minutes (or some lentils types might take 5-10 minutes more) add a handful of cracked wheat or rice after you rinse it, cumin, salt and the fried onion along with its oil
  4. You can then add another cup or two of water if all the water you’ve added first has already gone.
  5. Leave for another 15 minutes and keep mixing every 3 minutes until you get this texture like in the photo below
  6. Enjoy it with flat bread and salad on the side. Sahtein! 😊
