Our house made hummus consists of pureed chickpeas blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, salt and garlic. Topped with roasted red pepper, olive oil and parsley. - To prepare the falafel, put the soaked chickpeas along with all the ingredients for falafel in a chopper and blend it coarsely.
- Let the prepared mixture rest in the fridge for 1-2 hrs.
- After 2 hrs take the mixture and add 2tsp baking soda(optional) and a handful of sesame seeds(optional). Some people do not add sesame seeds but I do to give the falafel a nice crunch and fluffiness.
- Roll them in small kofta sized balls and again place in the refrigerator for around 4-5 hrs so that these bind together well.
- Now lastly after 4 hrs fry these in medium hot oil.
- Serve falafel with humus.
- For making humus, add all the ingredients in a mixer grinder and purée into a sauce like paste.
- For a fluffy humus add some ice cubes in the grinder while making a paste of it.
- Refrigerate it for at least 1 hour before serving.
- For garnishing add olive oil over it and sprinkle some cumin powder.
- Falafel can be served with humus and tahini sauce.
