I had never tasted a bread pudding until recently when I had it in a restaurant here. I love to have bread pudding all alone when it is cold and the weather is not that good. Specially this one is eggless and really easy to whipup. There is nothing comforting than a bowl full of this goodness.
Steps to make Ramadan Special - Steamed Eggless Bread Pudding:
- Add sugar & cardamom powder to the milk and stir till the sugar dissolves.
- Add the bread pieces and raisins. Keep aside to soak for 15-20 minutes.
- Now add the jam and mix well.
- Pour this bread mix into a greased steel container. Close with an aluminium foil and poke few holes on the surface. Steam for 25 minutes on a medium flame in a pressure cooker, minus the vent. Set aside to cool and refrigerate for an hour.
- While serving, invert it on to a serving plate and garnish with cherries. Enjoy just as it is or as an after-meal dessert.
You can make this with your favorite bread, I used regular white bread. Immediately transfer to the pudding setting pan(I used my square cake tin).
